Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti stated that terrorist groups cannot impose their agenda on the nation under any circumstances. He emphasized that the people of Balochistan have always stood with the state and the armed forces, and this bond will continue in the future as well. He clarified that imposing a ban on any proscribed organization is the authority of the federal government, and if the province’s opinion is sought, the matter will be placed before the provincial cabinet.
The Chief Minister said that in the past, Baloch youth were pushed into an unnecessary conflict, while the state consistently kept the door of reconciliation open. He revealed that around 100 militants in Dera Bugti have laid down their weapons and rejoined the national mainstream, marking an encouraging and positive step toward peace. According to him, many of these individuals had gone to the mountains during 2018–19 but have now returned and been welcomed by the government.
Bugti highlighted that the fight against terrorism is a collective national struggle, not the responsibility of a single institution. He criticized a political party for building its politics on a narrative of self-promotion, noting that the recent by-elections had exposed the reality of that narrative. He added that misinformation was deliberately spread against the state, the military, and the national leadership, including the false impression that a large-scale military operation was underway in Balochistan. In reality, only intelligence-based actions are being carried out in the province.
Commenting on the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Minister said that the people of the province urgently need peace, strong governance, and development facilities. He advised that the provincial leadership should abandon political confrontation and instead engage in meaningful dialogue with the federal government to resolve public issues. Endorsing the DG ISPR’s press briefing, he questioned whether militants should be allowed to advance as far as Islamabad.
Speaking about development indicators, Bugti said that according to FBR data, Balochistan has performed exceptionally well in digital financial systems — a result of effective policies and transparency. The reopening of 3,200 previously nonfunctional schools and the merit-based recruitment of 17,000 teachers have brought significant improvement in the education sector. Likewise, new hospitals established in remote regions are providing essential healthcare services, enhancing public trust and improving overall governance.
Concluding the press conference, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti remarked that, in his view, the leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should shift its focus from confrontation to serving the public. Member of the National Assembly Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani was also present on the occasion
