Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s Visit to Government Postgraduate Science College and Restoration Plans

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, visited the Government Postgraduate Science College and formally inaugurated the restored and renovated building after it was damaged by a fire. Under his directives, the restoration project was completed in a record time of six months to ensure that students could resume their education in a conducive environment as soon as possible. In September 2024, the Chief Minister had visited the college alongside Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, and had announced the restoration measures. Now, he has taken the institution under his direct supervision to modernize it.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced a special grant of one billion rupees for the college and directed that a master plan be developed to reconstruct all old buildings and ensure the provision of essential facilities. He stated that within one year, all necessary facilities would be provided to transform the college into a modern educational center. He also expressed his commitment to establishing an advanced IT park in the college, providing students with opportunities for world-class research and learning.

The Chief Minister shared a personal connection with the institution, mentioning that his late father, Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti, was also an alumnus of the college, making it particularly significant to him. He emphasized that this college is a prominent academic hub for the students of Balochistan, and the government is committed to enhancing its standard by allocating all necessary resources. He further stated that the provincial government is willing to provide a “blank check” to make this institution a model educational facility in the province.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti stressed the need to guide the youth towards education and constructive endeavors rather than misleading them toward unproductive objectives. He condemned the attempts by certain elements to divert young people from their bright futures. He asserted that violence is not a path to any country’s progress and that bad governance should not be used as an excuse to criticize the state. The Chief Minister reaffirmed his stance that no one would be allowed to sell government jobs, ensuring that all recruitments in the education department were made on merit.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to good governance and acknowledged the need for reforms in several sectors. Speaking about Zakat distribution, he stated that the Zakat department distributes 300 million rupees annually, while the provincial government spends 1.6 billion rupees on this sector. He also mentioned that district commissioners would now have the authority to distribute these funds.

Recognizing the crucial role of teachers, he urged them to help shape the intellectual capabilities of the youth. He also called on parents and education experts to guide the younger generation toward productive activities and to remain vigilant against anti-state propaganda.

The Chief Minister revealed that certain hostile elements were attempting to turn young people into suicide bombers and use them against the state. He disclosed that a law student had been given a suicide vest, proving that systematic efforts were being made to mislead and exploit young minds. He stressed the importance of understanding and countering such conspiracies within educational institutions.

Furthermore, he warned about the negative influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on social media, stating that it is being used to highlight negative aspects while suppressing positive activities. He pointed out that the issue of uneven development in Balochistan is often used as the basis for baseless propaganda, even though regional disparities in development exist across the entire country. He cited examples, noting that Karachi’s development is not mirrored in Kashmore, Quetta’s progress differs from Pishin, and the facilities in Qila Saifullah are not the same as in Sarand Jogezai. Similarly, Dera Bugti’s development is not at par with Baikar, just as Lahore’s progress is different from Dera Ghazi Khan. He emphasized that such disparities are not limited to Balochistan but are a national issue.

The Chief Minister warned that AI is being manipulated to alienate the youth from the state, and he urged collective efforts to counter this threat. He called on teachers to fulfill their duties with sincerity and play their role in the country’s progress. He also reminded everyone that they would be held accountable for their responsibilities on the Day of Judgment, stressing the importance of carrying out their duties with integrity.
