Major Steps for Improving Security and Facilities in Pakistan Railways

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced the launch of drone surveillance for monitoring all train operations in Balochistan. Additionally, CCTV cameras are being installed at railway stations and other sensitive locations to enhance security measures.

While presiding over a meeting, the minister stated that the Jaffar Express service will soon be restored as its track has been fully repaired. The train service had been suspended following a recent terrorist attack that damaged the railway track.

He directed Pakistan Railways officials to adopt modern security technologies and improve emergency preparedness to ensure safe travel for passengers. He emphasized that passenger safety must always be the top priority in railway operations.

The minister stressed the need to upgrade railway infrastructure, including modernizing tracks, stations, and rolling stock to improve travel efficiency. He noted that introducing more modern and comfortable trains would encourage passengers to choose Pakistan Railways as their preferred mode of travel.

The meeting, which reviewed the current state, challenges, and future plans of Pakistan Railways, was attended by all relevant stakeholders. Minister Abbasi took detailed notes on operational aspects such as train scheduling, passenger services, technical operations, and safety protocols.

He urged collective efforts from all stakeholders to ensure trains operate on schedule and services meet the highest standards of efficiency. He also emphasized the importance of improved communication between railway staff and passengers, ensuring that travelers are informed about train timings, delays, and any service disruptions in advance.

Discussing Pakistan Railways’ economic potential, Hanif Abbasi directed the railway’s commercial wing to explore new revenue streams through partnerships with the private sector, improved freight services, and the development of tourism-based train services. He highlighted that with its vast network and rich heritage, Pakistan Railways could serve as a catalyst for economic growth and social development in the country.
