Quetta: A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, to review the progress of the Education Department’s umbrella schemes. The meeting included a detailed review of the current status, transparency, and effective implementation of the ongoing schemes. The Chief Minister directed that a comprehensive survey of educational needs should be conducted in all districts to ensure that development projects are planned based on actual ground realities. He emphasized the need to align estimated costs with available resources to ensure timely completion of projects and maximum benefit to the public.
The Chief Minister stated that underdeveloped districts must be given priority in these schemes to ensure equal access to quality education across the province. He stressed that the distribution of resources should be completely transparent and free from all kinds of influence, carried out strictly on merit. He also directed that priority should be given to schools lacking basic facilities to improve the overall quality of education.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on activating district-level committees for effective monitoring of development projects. The Chief Minister said that transparency and measurable outcomes must be top priorities in all schemes and that post-completion evaluations should be carried out to assess their impact. He further added that community input should also be considered in education-related projects to align planning with local needs.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Advisor for Local Government Nawabzada Baba Amir Hamza Khan Zehri, Additional Chief Secretary for Development Hafiz Abdul Basit, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Education Saleh Muhammad Nasir, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, and other senior officials. All relevant departments were instructed to ensure speedy implementation of umbrella schemes and enhance interdepartmental coordination.
