Governor Balochistan Meets Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister in Beijing, Emphasizes Importance of CPEC Western Route

During his official visit to Beijing, Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail met with the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister, where he highlighted Pakistan’s—especially Balochistan’s—economic priorities in light of rapidly changing regional economic and political dynamics. The Governor stressed the urgent need to strengthen Pakistan’s economic system to gain access to neighboring countries’ trade markets, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a grand and transformative project, with Balochistan serving as a crucial link.

The Governor stated that the CPEC western route will not only enhance infrastructure development but also generate new opportunities for industrialization and employment, particularly transforming the economic landscape of Balochistan’s underdeveloped areas. He affirmed the government’s commitment to the swift completion of the western route and to providing full security to investors under a robust security framework that is already showing positive progress.

Governor Mandokhail also held separate meetings in Beijing with senior officials of the Communist Party, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Chinese policy institutions, including Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; Zhou Pingjian, Ambassador and Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA); and Liu Bin, Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These meetings included detailed discussions on the progress of CPEC, future cooperation, and development projects in Balochistan.

The Governor emphasized the need to equip the younger generation with modern technical and vocational skills in the context of CPEC, and said that collaboration with developed countries like China and international institutions could be extremely beneficial in this regard. He noted that the inclusion of ordinary citizens in economic activities is essential for stabilizing the national economy. Governor Mandokhail concluded by saying that CPEC, a historic project, will bring an end to economic stagnation across the region and usher in a new era of prosperity for all.
