In Nasirabad Division, Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, visited to review preparations in light of a possible flood threat. A meeting was held at the Commissioner’s Office, attended by officials from relevant departments and public representatives. It was informed that departments including irrigation, health, public health engineering, and livestock are on alert, while flood emergency control rooms have been established at various locations equipped with heavy machinery and staff.

Addressing the meeting, the provincial minister said that the lessons of the devastating 2010 floods must be kept in mind, and timely measures are essential to minimize public losses. He made it clear that, under the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, negligence will not be tolerated, and instructions have been issued to strengthen weak embankments immediately.

He further stated that the governments of Sindh and Balochistan are in close coordination to deal with any flood emergency, and in case of a critical situation, joint strategies will be implemented. The meeting also decided that health facilities must be fully prepared for emergencies such as snake bites, diarrhea, malaria, and maternity care. Districts facing shortages of medicines or vaccines were directed to immediately report to the Health Department.

Minister Umrani added that climate change is a major challenge, but with precautionary measures, losses can be reduced. He assured that the government, along with divisional and district administrations, will provide full support to protect people’s lives and property and to address public concerns and fears effectively.
