Chief Minister Balochistan’s Address at the Provincial Assembly

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, while addressing the provincial assembly, stated that the Anti-Terrorism Act will never be used against innocent people, but solely against terrorists and anti-state elements to bring them under the grip of the law. He termed the recent killing of laborers in Gwadar as a tragic incident, stressing that such events highlight the urgent need for implementing special laws to counter terrorism.

He pointed out that many countries have enacted swift legislation in response to terrorist attacks, citing France as an example where a new law was passed within a single day. Referring to past tragedies, the Chief Minister mentioned the 8 August 2016 lawyers’ massacre, noting that although the mastermind was arrested, justice was delayed due to the lack of timely trial. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the state to address the grief of families who lose loved ones to terrorism.

Bugti further said that people are often unwilling to testify against terrorists, but his government has resolved that it will never bow down before them. He made it clear that those spreading terrorism and unrest in Balochistan cannot escape the state’s grasp, and strict action will be taken against them. The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the state will use its full strength to crush anti-peace elements and ensure a secure and peaceful environment for the people.
