Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti visited the Central Police Office in Quetta, where he paid homage at the Martyrs’ Monument, laid floral wreaths, and offered prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks. Later, he chaired a high-level meeting regarding police affairs, during which the performance of the force, existing challenges, and proposed reforms were thoroughly discussed.
During the meeting, important decisions were made to accelerate the merger process of the Levies Force into the Police, make the police more effective, and enhance operational coordination. The Chief Minister stressed the need to modernize the police force, strengthen its role in counter-terrorism, and prioritize public safety.
Instructions were issued to improve coordination between the Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), activate the Crime Branch, and expedite police preparations in light of the merger of B Area into A Zone. The Chief Minister also approved measures to improve the police’s logistical support, increase manpower, and appoint Assistant Sub-Inspectors through departmental recruitment.
Decisions were made to equip the police with modern technology, forensic facilities, and advanced communication systems, while further strengthening the Special Operational and Security Wings. The Chief Minister emphasized the continuation of training courses, seminars, and drills for police personnel, highlighting that improving professional capacity is essential in the current era.
Steps were also approved to make the compensation package for martyrs more comprehensive, while the allowance for personnel of special wings will now be implemented under the 2022 running package. During the meeting, Mir Sarfraz Bugti assured that the government would provide all financial and administrative resources required by the police and paid rich tribute to the officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
He reiterated that the political leadership stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces and that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure proper training, modern weaponry, and facilities for them. The Chief Minister remarked that the political government will lead the “lawfare,” while the forces will lead the “warfare.”
Mir Sarfraz Bugti added that the sacrifices of the martyrs are the nation’s pride and must never be forgotten. He reaffirmed his commitment to making the police an empowered, professional, and modern force to ensure lasting peace and stability in Balochistan, paying tribute to Inspector Lutf Khosa and other martyrs for their remarkable sacrifices.
