The government has made a significant decision by amending Schedule-I of the Export Policy Order 2022, allowing the conditional export of Potassium Sulfate (K₂SO₄) produced in the Gwadar Free Zone. Under this decision, companies manufacturing Potassium Sulfate fertilizer in the Gwadar Free Zone are permitted to export up to 50% of their annual production or a maximum of 10,000 tons, whichever is lower.
This approval is valid for one year, effective until December 31, 2025. The export process will be carried out in two phases: a maximum of 5,000 tons can be exported by June 30, 2025, while the remaining 5,000 tons can be exported by December 31, 2025. If the export quantity in the first phase falls short of the allocated amount, the remaining quantity will be adjusted in the second phase.
Additionally, the Ministry of Industries & Production and the Fertilizer Review Committee (FRC) have been instructed to collect monthly data on production and exports from manufacturers operating in the Gwadar Free Zone and to conduct an annual review of the exports. The Ministry of Industries & Production will officially notify this decision and communicate it to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other relevant ministries and departments. Furthermore, the FBR has been directed to update its system to facilitate the export of Potassium Sulfate from Gwadar Port as per the given framework.
This initiative aligns with the government’s policy to promote industrial growth and exports, aiming to provide global market access to industries operating within the Gwadar Free Zone and strengthen the national economy.
