Strong Federal–Provincial Coordination for the Development of Balochistan

On 13 January 2026 in Islamabad, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti met Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the overall situation of Balochistan, law and order, ongoing and upcoming public welfare projects, development priorities, and the need for improved coordination between the federation and the province.
The Chief Minister emphasized that close cooperation between federal and provincial institutions is essential for the sustainable development of Balochistan and the prosperity of its people. He stated that strong institutional harmony not only helps in the timely completion of development projects but also promotes social stability.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the importance of protecting the rights of women and youth in Balochistan and improving human resource development. He said that Balochistan plays a key role in the overall progress of the country and that the development of Balochistan is, in fact, the development of Pakistan. Therefore, resolving the issues faced by the province remains a top priority of the present government.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to ensuring the transparent and effective implementation of projects in infrastructure, education, and health in Balochistan. He described the welfare and development of the people of Balochistan as a national priority and pledged continued full support to the provincial government.
The participants agreed that through the joint efforts of Parliament, the federal government, and the provincial government, sustainable development, economic stability, and social well-being in Balochistan can be ensured. The Speaker of the National Assembly said that Balochistan is close to his heart and that all available resources will be utilized to address the challenges faced by the province.
The delegation also appreciated the sacrifices, professionalism, and effective actions of the security forces and law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order in the province. The efforts of the Speaker of the National Assembly to strengthen ties between federal and provincial democratic institutions were also acknowledged. The participants stressed that a strong parliamentary system is the key to building trust between the federation and the provinces, which is vital for the country’s overall development.
