The True Face of Tribal Politics: Power in the Name of the People, Luxury in the Name of Power

Sardar Akhtar Mengal! Venom against the state on your lips, but the state’s treasury in your pocket? The slogans shouted at rallies — “Punjab has looted us!”, “Balochistan’s resources have been stolen!” — may sound emotional and people-centric, but when the curtain of reality is lifted, the picture looks very different. Palaces in Dubai, hotels in Karachi, and gleaming luxury cars in showrooms — all fueled by bank accounts from abroad. Meanwhile, a poor child in Wadh is starving for a single morsel of bread.

This is the real face of tribal politics. Eat well yourself and keep others hungry. When the state questions you, cry out about oppression; but when young people ask for their rights, plant dreams of separatism in their minds. The votes earned in the name of nationalism become a ticket to the corridors of power — and that very power is then spent not on public welfare, but on personal indulgence.

If Sardar Sahib’s struggle is truly as pure as he claims, then why not hand over the palaces in Dubai, the Swiss accounts, and the valuable assets to the people? Why not give the rightful share to his own people? Why not provide the youth of Balochistan with education, employment, and a better future?

Even the so-called “Long March” was rejected by the public. From Wadh to Chiltan, the empty chairs and disappointed faces bore witness to the fact that the Baloch nation is now awakened. They will no longer fall prey to cowardly politics. They now understand that those who came into power chanting slogans of rights turned out to be the biggest enemies of their dreams.
