Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, held a meeting with vice chancellors from various universities in the province, led by Provincial Minister for Education, Raheela Hameed Durrani. During the meeting, detailed discussions took place on the financial and administrative matters of higher education institutions. A key decision was made to eliminate disparities in faculty salaries by standardizing pay scales across universities to promote justice and transparency in the system.
Furthermore, it was decided to discourage and eventually eliminate the recruitment of unnecessary support staff in order to reduce financial burdens on universities and ensure optimal use of resources. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to ensure merit and transparency at all levels and called for the promotion of modern academic disciplines aligned with contemporary global demands, enabling students to receive quality education and training.
He directed universities to take effective and practical steps to increase their revenue and stressed that merely constructing buildings is not enough—improving academic standards and teaching quality is essential for true progress. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of holistic development of students through increased extracurricular activities that help shape their personalities and strengthen their connection with the state.
He reiterated that teachers are a vital pillar of society and play a key role not only in academic instruction but also in the intellectual and moral guidance of the younger generation. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Durrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary of Higher Education Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Babar Khan, Secretary of Finance Imran Zarkoon, and vice chancellors of various universities.
