Under the leadership of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, a revolutionary step has been taken in the province’s history. For the first time ever, Helpers Eye Hospital in Quetta has started offering corneal transplant procedures — a significant breakthrough not only for Balochistan but for all of Pakistan. This initiative is especially meaningful for those who lost their vision due to illness or injury.
A corneal transplant is a modern medical procedure in which the transparent layer of the human eye (the cornea) is replaced with a donated cornea from another person. This procedure brings hope to those who have lost their eyesight due to corneal damage. Until now, residents of Quetta and surrounding areas had to travel to other cities or even abroad for this treatment, but now it is available within their own province.
In this landmark initiative, a few patients received free corneal transplants during the first phase, and the surgeries were completely successful. Helpers Eye Hospital carried out the procedures using the latest equipment and skilled doctors. The patients and their families expressed deep happiness and satisfaction over the results.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti visited the hospital, appreciated the efforts of the surgeons and staff, and expressed hope that more people would benefit from this facility in the future. He stated that improving the health sector is a top priority for the Balochistan government, and this project is part of that mission.
He further said that medical advancements like corneal transplants will help provide quality treatment to the people of Balochistan and serve as a model for other provinces. On this occasion, he also urged the public to actively participate in eye donation campaigns so more people can regain their sight.
This development marks a new chapter in Balochistan’s healthcare history. It not only benefits patients but also opens new doors for growth and research in the medical field. Thanks to the combined efforts of Helpers Eye Hospital Quetta and the Government of Balochistan, a long-awaited dream has become reality for thousands who had been hoping for a chance to see again.
