Uninterrupted Power Supply: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Directs QESCO

An important high-level meeting was held in Quetta under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to review the operations of the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO). The meeting, held on Monday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, focused on electricity transmission and distribution systems, public complaints, and the progress of ongoing electrification projects in remote areas of the province. On this occasion, QESCO Chief Executive Officer Syed Yousaf Shah gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Minister about the challenges facing the company, the current electricity situation, and potential solutions.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed QESCO officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across the province and to adopt a comprehensive and effective strategy to immediately address flaws in the transmission system. He emphasized that QESCO must prioritize public relief and that the complaint redressal system should be efficient enough to ensure that citizens’ concerns are heard and resolved promptly.

The Chief Minister issued strict instructions to avoid unnecessary load shedding and unannounced power outages during the summer season, stressing that providing relief to the public during hot weather is QESCO’s top responsibility. He also urged the timely completion of ongoing electrification projects in remote and underdeveloped areas such as Dera Bugti and Bekar, highlighting the need for effective and sustainable planning to improve electricity supply in these regions.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti made it clear that the Government of Balochistan is committed to providing basic facilities to the public and will leave no stone unturned in this regard. He stated that all public sector institutions must perform their duties with honesty and dedication so that the people of the province receive genuine and lasting relief.
