
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, to discuss a proposed project aimed at assessing the condition of roads using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Communications and Works Department. During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on a modern, technology-driven system designed to monitor and digitally inspect the road network.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Development Zahid Saleem, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind, IT Secretary Ayaz Khan Mandokhail, and Secretary Communications Lal Jan Jafar.
The Chief Minister was informed that the proposed AI-based system would enable digital monitoring of roads in remote and underserved areas of Balochistan, marking a significant step toward infrastructure improvement and transparent oversight of development projects. On the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to adopt smart, technology-based solutions instead of traditional methods to ensure effective and transparent execution of developmental schemes.
He further stated that the deteriorating condition of roads has become a serious concern for the public and that there is an urgent need to take modern measures to address this issue. He stressed that financial resources must be utilized efficiently, and every project should be executed based on ground realities. The Chief Minister made it clear that there would be no compromise on the quality, lifespan, or durability of roads.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti directed that further consultation should be carried out to make the AI-based road monitoring system practical and implementable, and a final decision would be made after careful consideration of all aspects.
