
Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, held a meeting with IFAD Country Director Ms. Fernanda Tomas, during which detailed discussions were held on agricultural development and food security projects in the province. The meeting emphasized that in the wake of climate change, adopting modern agricultural practices has become a vital necessity to increase farmers’ productivity and ensure food security.
The Chief Minister stated that international cooperation is highly valued for poverty reduction and sustainable development in rural areas. He highlighted that empowering women and youth with skills can strengthen and stabilize the rural economy. He further said that the provincial government is giving special attention to improving agricultural infrastructure, upgrading irrigation systems, and enhancing market access so that farmers and rural communities can directly benefit.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating ongoing agricultural and rural development projects in Balochistan, ensuring that the province’s economy is built on stronger foundations for long-term growth.
