Quetta has witnessed a significant development in efforts to promote the welfare of minority communities, as the Government of Balochistan has decided to introduce the People’s Minority Card aimed at ensuring the social and economic progress of minorities in the province. The initiative seeks to provide better access to healthcare, education, employment, and business opportunities for minority groups living across Balochistan.
A consultative meeting, chaired by Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was held to discuss the program. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Minority Affairs Sanjay Kumar, Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary, and other relevant officials. During the session, it was decided that an amount of Rs. 500 million would be allocated from the Minority Endowment Fund for the effective implementation of the program in the current fiscal year. The government also plans to increase the budget to Rs. 1 billion in the next fiscal year.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that protecting the rights of minorities and ensuring their development is among the top priorities of the Government of Balochistan. He expressed confidence that the People’s Minority Card would help minority communities gain equal opportunities and improved access to essential services, contributing to an inclusive and progressive society.
