
Quetta: May 22 – An important meeting regarding Quetta’s cleanliness, waste management, “Safa Quetta” campaign, and beautification efforts was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqaat and CEO of the Public-Private Partnership Authority, Dr. Faisal Khan, briefed the session.
It was informed during the briefing that the first Mountain View IT Park under public-private partnership has been completed in Quetta. The park houses three software houses and has created job opportunities for 100 youth. The project was completed without any government expenditure, saving Rs. 1.5 billion.
Additionally, the city’s waste collection capacity has been increased from 300 tons to 1,000 tons per day. In the past year, 3,200 previously closed schools across the province have been reactivated. The Chief Minister approved the appointment of magistrates for the enforcement of municipal laws and emphasized that the service delivery system is being made more transparent and effective, with visible results.
He stated that constructive criticism is welcome and encouraging positive efforts is a collective responsibility. The upcoming budget will be transparent, and strict measures will be taken to prevent wastage of resources. He directed that municipal services in Quetta be further improved and that due funds for partner institutions be released without delay. He stressed that no commission should be paid to any official or individual in public welfare projects, and complaints should be reported directly to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
The Chief Minister also announced that performance review meetings will be held every two months. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Hafiz Abdul Basit, Principal Secretary to the CM Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqaat, CEO of PPP Authority Dr. Faisal Khan, and the Safa Quetta team.
