Spokesperson of Balochistan Government Shahid Rind’s Press Conference: Focus on Government Performance, Development Budget, and Security Measures

In a press conference, the spokesperson of the Balochistan government, Shahid Rind, stated that the performance of any government is best judged by its first budget. He emphasized that the current fiscal year’s budget is the first budget of the present government, which has been prepared with seriousness and integrity. According to Rind, in the past, more than 62 percent of the development funds remained unutilized. However, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has broken that trend by pledging the full utilization of the development budget, a promise on which implementation is actively underway.

Shahid Rind revealed that during the current fiscal year, 90 percent of the allocated 200 billion rupees in the development budget has already been utilized, which he termed as a significant achievement. He expressed hope that by the end of the fiscal year, 100 percent of the funds will be utilized, setting a new precedent in the province’s history.

He also announced that the government is planning to launch the “People’s Rail Service” from Kuchlak to Sariab Road, aimed at providing modern and efficient travel facilities to the public. He further mentioned that suggestions from the opposition are being incorporated into the upcoming fiscal budget to ensure it reflects a consensus-based and comprehensive approach.

The spokesperson affirmed that the new budget will focus on projects that generate employment opportunities, especially for the youth, which would help stabilize the economy. Responding to a question about amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act, he stated that extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary decisions to effectively combat terrorism.

Shahid Rind also clarified that both the government and opposition parties were present in the assembly during the amendment process, and no objections were raised—demonstrating a unified stance among all parliamentary forces on this matter.
